2007 details to be announced 2006 There are endless contests and competitions during the Evangeline Agricultural Exhibition & Acadian Festival week-end. And it seems as though more and more are added each year! The famous pole-climber Jerry Arsenault will be back with his pole-climbing stunt, climbing and dancing on top of an 80-foot pole. There will also be competitions to climb a 40-foot pole. You do not want to miss this event. The 3 – 4 wheeler pull will be held on Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. Another popular week-end activity is the horse-pulling contest. The provincial finals will be held on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. This year, there will once again be a competition to see who can knit the most in 15 minutes. Men, women and children may take part in this activity which will be held on Saturday afternoon. The construction contractors's competition which gets underway at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, should not be missed. Another contest will consist of throwing rubber boots as far as you possibly can. Boots will be supplied, so participating will be easy. Furthermore, the lucky winners will win a pair of new boots. See you on Saturday afternoon! A scarecrow contest is held during the weekend. There is a category for adults and one for children under 16. The public is invited to select the winners by voting for their favorites. Prizes are awarded to the best decorated homes and businesses. Judges look for originality, color, creativity and variety, as well as representation of the yearly theme. Children are invited to participate in this contest, since there is a special category just for them. Local fishermen are invited to decorate their fishing boats and attempt to win a prize. Everyone savours the colorful air of festivity that this brings each year for the beautiful Sunday morning mass at the wharf. Prizes are also awarded for the best float, most original
entry, best individual, best group, best child, best clown and best overall
entry in Sunday afternoon’s parade. The winners are announced before the
closing show on Sunday evening.
