Welcome to the Youth Talent 2007 results page. Here you will find the results of one of the most exciting talent searches that are going on across PEI this summer! As each Talent Search competition completes, you will be able to find each winner listed below along with a picture of them. Check back regularly to see who the candidates are for representing PEI at the national competition this year!

The final local competition is being held Sunday afternoon in Dundas at the Provincial Plowing Match and Agricultural Fair. Good luck to all!


YTS 2007 WinnersProvincial Champions!!!!!

The first place winners at this year's Provincial
Youth Talent Finals were Matthew Allain and Cameron Francis.

They will be representing Prince Edward Island at the Canadian Youth Talent Competition (CYTC) that will be taking place in the Queen Elizabeth Theatre at the Canadian National Exhibitions fair grounds in Toronto Ontario on November 15th during the annual convention of the Canadian Association of Fairs and Exhibitions. Best of luck to them both!!

Tignish Irish Moss Festival - Sunday, July 1, 2007

First place winner:

We'd like you to meet our YTS 2007 Tignish champion! His name is Matthew Reid. Matthew is 13 years old and he plays the fiddle like a true performer

Abram Village - Wednesday July 18th

First place winners: Les Jeunes Cow-Boys
YTS 2007 - Abram Village

All 14 years old, this group is formed by 5 youth from the Evangeline Region. Brandon Arsenault, at the violin, Mitchell Richard at the guitar, and Natalie Gallant, Nicole Arsenault, Melissa Arsenault step dancers.

Mitchell and the 3 girls are first cousins, and Brandon is one of their best friends. The 3 girls have been dancing since the age of 9, and they are currently in the group called Les Tapageuses, under the direction of Tracy Arsenault.  While Brandon has been playing music since he was 8 years old and Mitchell has been playing guitar for less then a year.

These two boys are under the direction of Louise Arsenault and are also members of the group Les Musimains.

Other participants in the competition were: Kyla Cook(second), Matthew Allain(third), the band "Manifold's" and dance duo Samantha MacKinnon and  Kristin MacDonald.

YTS2007AlbertonThe third local competition was held at the Prince County Exhibition in Alberton on August 2nd.  There were over a dozen entries including Brianne Shea  ( Dance solo),  Matthew Allain  (Instrumental Solo), Janelle Gallant   ( Vocal Solo),  Shalene Gallant  (Vocal solo), Janna Bridges    (vocal solo),  The Manifolds     (Instrumental Group with Vocals),  Heidi Ellis    (Vocal Solo), Cameron Francis   (Dance solo), Carlene Brennan   (Vocal Solo), Chelsey Gallant    (vocal solo),    Kyla Cook  (vocal solo), Carlene Brennan & Meghan Warren  ( Vocal Duo), and each one was impressive.

At the end of the evening, Heidi Ellis won first place. 

YTS2007KensingtonThe fourth local competition was held in Kensington on Sunday August 19th during the Kensington Community Harvest Festival.  There were again over a dozen entries.  The first place winner at the end of the evening was Brianne Shea.

YTS2007DundasThe final local competition was held in Dundas at the Provincial Plowing Match and Agricultural Fair. There were 14 separate performances at the fair.  However the first place winners were the duo of Matthew Allain and Cameron Francis.
