July 5 - 12, 2008

Sat. July 5

- PEI Regiment "B" Squadron presents the "Veterans" Breakfast at The Royal Canadian Legion on Notre Dame Street. Breakfast served 8:00am - 10:00am. Public welcome.

- Master Packaging SOS Boat Race – Spinnaker’s Landing (1:00 pm) .

- 3:00 pm Johnny D's Band - Concert at Spinnaker's Landing after the Boat Races . Come and listen to Island talent, a Father and Daughters Trio!

- Concert! Blind Boys of Alabama @ Credit Union Place, 7:00 pm.

- Bicycle Decorating Contest for children 12 and under. Registration of decorated bikes and Tricycles begins at 12:00 noon and judging starts at 1:00pm. The event will take place in the Transport Canada parking lot (Marine Wharf) next to Spinnaker’s Landing.

- Harness Racing, Governor’s Plate Eliminations. At Summerside Raceway beginning at 7:00 pm.

Sun. July 6

- Giant afternoon Bingo at the Summerside Legion beginning at 1:00 pm.

- Celebrity Dinner at Credit Union Place, Veteran’s Convention Center. Local celebrity Adam Bourque will be attending. Reception will be at 6:00 pm and Dinner will begin at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $40.00. The Celebrity Dinner is presented to you by Aliant.

Mon. July 7

- Giant Street Parade will begin at 1:00 pm from the Marine Wharf on the waterfront traveling through the City.

- Maritime Midway Located at the Credit Union Place (1:00 pm – midnight)

- Enjoy a traditional Lobster Supper held at the Summerside Legion (4:30pm -8:00pm) Seasonal Prices

- Enjoy Harness Racing at the Summerside Racetrack staring at

7:00 pm.

Tues. July 8

- GIANT SIDEWALK SALE on Water Street sponsored by Downtown Summerside Inc. Bargains galore, entertainment and great food. Open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

- 9^th Annual Rotary Spelling Bee located at the Credit Union Place at 10:00 am. Sponsored by Island Rotary Clubs, The Guardian, Journal-Pioneer and the Department of Education.

Talent Contest for singers located at the Credit Union Place and starting @ 8:00 pm. Tickets will be sold at the door; 1ticket for 2 nights $15.00; 1 ticket for Tuesday night $8.00; 1 ticket for Wednesday night $10.00. Also 12 and under ½ price. Sponsored by Journal Pioneer, Sobers Music, C102 and Basil Stewart Apartments .

Traditional Lobster Suppers served at the Summerside Legion daily from 4:30 pm-8:00 pm. Seasonal prices.

- Children’s Day from 9am – 5pm on Water Street. Free access to Giant inflatables, giant color by number and numerous other fun activities.

- New Farmer’s Market on Water Street, opened for Sidewalk sale.
